Pulling the Fish Together

Let’s take a look at some of the goals of the project. The project is rather open-ended and it has no tangible goals. Rather the purpose of the project is to endorse and encourage certain values I have grouped under three headings: authenticity, unity and obedience. These titles themselves are quite arbitrary and chosen because they offer a logical and intuitive way to present and remember the goals themselves. I trust that once you get a grasp of these general values you will be able to apply them to your more specific circumstances.

I believe this goal is given to the entire Kingdom of God and that He wants and He – and He alone – can to put it into practice through His own people. It is richness of the Kingdom that He has given us different priorities within this goal. For example, some may be burning for prayer, others for apology. Nevertheless, each and everyone of us should appreciate all of these goals and allow others to be different. God is great, and the multitude of His graces can only be expressed by people with a multitude of different goals. All of these goals serve the same purpose, glory of God and that His will be done on the earth as it is in heaven.

This mutual respect comes with humility. As we give each other the permission to be different, we must also give up our desire to control others in any way. None of us must seek to rule others, but rather seek to serve, to ask what I can do for others. Our unity and co-operation is not based on structures or negotiations, but any structures – like Diktuon.net – we build for our co-operation must be built on co-operation founded on recognizing the reality of our unity in Christ.

This unity is not unity of organisations but unity of individual people. Project Diktuon is about strengthening the unity of mature individual Christians building the Kingdom of God in Europe. These Christians are likely to belong to organisations who don’t recognize unity with each other. E.g. some officially hold it their right to define the limits of the Kingdom by restricting the Holy Communion only to members of their church.

Project Diktuon is about strengthening the network over such dividing lines of different interpretations or priorities, and strengthening the network of individual Christians that penetrates all institutions, irrespective of the institutions’ official views of each other.

I believe we should recognize the legitimacy of these institutions themselves. They are ways people of God have chosen to organize themselves and they have their purposes, like protecting and guiding their members or creating means for co-operation. For these reasons, we want to support people belonging to these institutions in those institutions, rather than creating a new one. Project Diktuon is about strengthening ties between individuals who keep living and acting in their own communities. Diktuon.net is about providing means to these different people to communicate, share and offer our resources and help to build the Kingdom of God in its totality.

The committing to the values of Project Diktuon may mean a great change to the way things in these days are commonly done in the Kingdom of God. It is time to start doing things differently. Not necessarily different things, but in a different way, with a different mentality. To start thinking about the Kingdom as a whole: when others in the Kingdom win, we win, and when others in the Kingdom lose, we lose. To start thinking that our goals are better than own goals. That we would mature in knowing God and live accordingly. These are values that God wants His people to strive for. These are goals He Himself will give us the power to reach out for.

When you read the values, it should become clear that they are not exclusive to Project Diktuon. In fact, the whole Project Diktuon is inclusive by nature: anyone promoting or practising these values is contributing to the project, whether they know it or not. If you find reading about them helpful in understanding how to build the Kingdom of God in your life and community, great.

May His Holy Spirit will lead us to Authenticity, Unity and Obedience.
